Kay

Welcome to my blog!  I am a bonafide dollaholic.  I have loved and collected dolls practically my entire life.  I started making cloth dolls back in the late ’70’s.  Then I began to make porcelain dolls.  I made all the clothing for my dolls too, but it was an expensive hobby, so I stopped doing that after a couple of years.  I continued to make cloth dolls for a long time, and I still do when I find a pattern that I really like, but mainly I make crocheted dolls now.  My daughter and I started crocheting dolls a few years ago and it has blossomed into both of us creating our own patterns and making our dolls for sale at craft shows. It’s a lot of fun and there’s no end to what you can do.  I am always looking for something new to try.  My daughter also knits very well and has made some very beautiful knitted dolls and other things.  I’m very jealous!

I am also an accomplished seamtress.  I love to sew!  I make quilted handbags and many other things for sale, but I also make special things for all the people in my life.  I can sew just about anything, but I especially love sewing clothing and dolls.

I grew up in a family where just about everyone had hobbies and they worked on them constantly.  I have tried to pass that tradition on to my own little family and I have been pretty successful.  Both of my children love to read, write, and draw.  My daughter has learned to sew and crochet from me, and she  taught herself how to knit.  She also loves to make earrings, so we always have a lot of stuff for sale at the holiday bazaars and craft sales we particpate in.

There are many other hobbies that I enjoy, and I will share them with you as I start a new project.  In the meantime, I hope you enjoy my blog!

      • It’s so wonderful how you two have grown together as crafters, in addition to mother-daughter. I hope my youngest gal and I can stay connected similarly when she goes off to college! Thanks for the inspirations on projects too. Melodie

      • Melodie,

You are too sweet! I do love my Assunta and am so glad that we share so many interests. Come to Craft Circle and bring Kes with you! Assunta will be there with me the second Sunday in December! It’s at the Sellwood Library from 2-4pm. Bring anything you want to work on. It’s a lot of fun!

  1. Congratulations on the launch of your blog! Wishing you many years of blissful creative joy.
I look forward to seeing the fabulous new things you make from the heart, by hand.

  2. Hi Kay
You’re such a good seamstress- looking forward to seeing your items. Can I order some pot holders already? I like how yours are bigger than most in stores.

    • Amy, Thank you for the lovely compliment. Yes, you can order some potholders. Just give me an idea of fabric colors or prints that you’re partial to. I’ll let you know when they’re done. I usually charge $3.00 per potholder.

  3. Beautiful blog, Kay and Assunta. You two have remarkable talent, and eyes for beauty and style. I like the background colors on your page header and I especially like your title, “All dolled up.”
