Japanese “Princess” bride doll

A friend of mine came up with the idea for this doll.  She asked me to make a doll for her nephew’s new wife, who just happens to be Japanese.  My friend wanted a special doll with an upswept hairdo, a red dress, and she wanted it to have a tiara.  We had been shopping a few weeks earlier and found these adorable tiaras at Coco and Toulouse Go Shopping, a little shop down by the Bybee and Milwaukie intersection, in Portland.  Well we both started thinking of ideas on how one could incorporate a tiny tiara into a craft project, and this is what she came up with.  Then it was my job to bring it to life.  We named her Yoko, after the woman she is intended for.  I hope she loves her as much as I loved making her.
